That’s right … I’m doing just what it says on the tin lol
At this time in two days (Saturday 23rd February 2013) I shall be sitting on a train zooming (we hope) down to London with my Dad … with your Dad you might ask, how old are you then, a kid? Well I’m preeeeetty sure most, if not all lol, of my friends will say I’ve never grown up … who wants to??? I am technically an adult and during the trip there is some debate over who is looking after who.
It’s only my second trip of this distance, last time was only for a week, I travelled with my husband and son, we stayed with my Dad, did no additional travelling and it was fifteen years ago. For those reasons my Dad says he’ll be looking after me (financially he truly is, I am a very very very very lucky, aka spoilt, person!) however my Mum reckons I’ll be looking after him even though he has travelled extensively both for work and pleasure. Just because he’ll be 70 this year … I mean it was only last year he went camping in Scotland so early they had snow! He does have a tendency to tune things out when they get noisy (hearing aids) but is that just when he doesn’t want to listen
lol
Oh, where am I going? THAILAND!!!!!!!!
Ahem, me, excited? Noooooo, whatever gave you that idea *giggles madly* cos it’s not just a holiday of a lifetime with my Dad … Mrs Luckyluck, my friend who lives out there, is joining me. Yeah!
Now I have no idea if I’ll be able to blog from my phone, I will try, but even if I can’t I shall be sharing when I get back … I might take a picture or three, okay I have bought a new 16GB memory card which means my digital camera now has three (16GM, 8GM & 64MB) all of which I am taking. I’ve even got a decent sized memory card in my phone so I will be able to take photo’s with that which there is the vague chance I’ll be able to upload while on holiday … if I can access my blog, it’s only a clever phone, not a smart one
As for where in Thailand, we’re starting in Bangkok where a fab friend is meeting us, after a couple of days there we split up. Dad goes off birding while Mrs Luckyluck and I go up to Chiang Mai … on an overnight train where they change the seats into proper beds with mattresses & curtains & everything
This site, Seat61, has been brill for planning and has a video clip of them changing them! Dad will meet us up there, Mrs Luckyluck heads back to her part of Thailand on the Sunday and we stay in Chiang Mia for a day or so. The next bit isn’t booked yet, we’re leaving it open to change BUT lol what we’re going to do is night train to Ayuthaya, spend the day there and stay over catching an early-ish local train the following morning to head back to Bangkok. We definitely plan to be back in Bangkok Wednesday, just to give us a buffer and a day to chill on Friday before catching the plane back home … our return flight takes off fifteen minutes past midnight. Aren’t planes magical … it will take 18 hours & 20 minutes to fly there but only 6 hours & 5 minutes to fly back! I know it’s down to the time difference but I think the flight there might well feel that long lol
- The flight distance is 5947 miles, or 9571 km.
- The timezone of the departure airport is UTC+0 , and the timezone of the arrival airport is UTC+7 . Current time at the point of departure is 11:39am, and 6:39pm at the point of arrival. There is a 7 hour time difference between the airports.
- For direct flights, the flight time varies between 10:35 and 11:35.
If I don’t get online … see you when I get back

family, FUN, hills, Lake, Lake District, Loweswater, photos, snow on the hills, walking
Just over a week ago there was quite a lot of snow on the hills. Well, not deep, but a good covering.
Today there was little snow but it was very sunny, I was glad I’d put my sunglasses on & wished I didn’t have so many layers on lol. This is the only photo, in the post, from today.
Snowy as it was in that direction, in this the lake was brightly blue.
At one point a cat comes out to say hello and have a fuss. This is a snap I took last time. He came over to talk to me, inspected my Dad, then came back to me
Today he visited with everyone … but, true or not, I like to think he spent more time with me. He definitely came over to me when I talked to him
So the first time my Dad & I did this walk our average moving speed was 2.6mph with a maximum of 3.9mph … I somehow think that must have been when we were going down the rather steep hill lol.
The second time we did this walk Dad didn’t bring his camera & I only took a couple of shots. I didn’t have my camera with me on either day but I did have my phone which has a camera on it
However I only took a couple of shots so though nobody noticed the start or end time there was much less stoppage and we also walked faster. Since Dad didn’t bring his gadget we don’t know how much faster lol

I found the below on facebook … fancy giving it a go? I think I will
In fact I think I’ll start it tonight!
… or rather I’ll right it down and keep it safe … my coffee jar is nearly empty ![]()
Love this idea!! For a while a couple of years ago…my step daughter and her 3 kids came to live with us, they were going through a tough time. Every night at the dinner table I would have each of them tell me one good thing that happened to them that day. At first they grumbled and acted like they didn’t like it, but after a while they would remind me that I hadn’t asked about the days “good thing” yet.
This January, why not start the year with an empty jar and fill it with notes about good things that happen. Then, on New Years Eve, empty it and see what awesome stuff happened that year. Good way to keep things in perspective!

bathroom wall, family, friends, FUN, ladies who lunch, leak, stress
I’ve had a mixed day today. Started by reporting the leak where they put the vent back in the bathroom wall after redoing render on end wall. Lovely lunch with Ladies Who Lunch from previous school I worked in. Some compliments & I was wearing a new top and feeling gorgeous so graciously accepted them, a skill I am working on lol. Lovely visit & tea with my son. Continue reading »

I spent the day with my Aunt, I collect her, bring her back here to visit shops (today only Whelans Chemist, Superdrug, Boots, Holland & Barrett and Ryman (a stationary shop) then take her back home, usually some “will you just”ing to do, eventually I get to go back home. Sometimes there is a lunch stop, today the shopping was followed by a ‘lunch’ *sigh* There are few places that are easily accessible when a wheelchair is involved, these are limited by my Aunt, and none have Healthy Friendly Food. Today ‘lunch’ was a stop at Costa where she had a massimo hot chocolate and a fruit scone with jam and cream and I had a massimo skinny latte (not sure how I ended up with a massimo latte, meant to get a medium lol) and a Banana & Pecan Breakfast Loaf (delish).
That ‘lunch’ was SO not following the Slimming World Healthy Eating Plan and seems the opposite of the title … we’re getting there though lol
When I finally head home I pass a famous shop … famous for delicious icecream, and cheap sweets! Over the years it has become something of a habit … stopping to ‘reward’ myself for a day holding my tongue, being pleasant and pushing my aunt around taking as long as she needs/wants.
However today … I kept going! Saying to myself “this is not the icecream you are looking for, this is not the icecream you are looking for” lol. It was a little harder to resist than it might have been. I’d slept in, breakfast was a cereal bar on the move, then lunch was the breakfast bar … so my tummy was rather empty!
Tea was a stir-fry, red kidney bean, tomato mugshot & a couple of carrots … whoops! No beetroot!!!

I can’t remember now who posted the link on facebook I followed, yesterday I think it was, but I’ve been doing lots of reading of it, and the follow up posts. I’m not Christian and whether a person is straight, gay, bi or something else has never been an issue with me, not even when I was a christian. The main message in the post “I’m Christian, unless you’re gay” (written by Dan Pearce) is love, please read it and share it.
Below I’m putting a video Dan posted about some responses he’s had to the original post … please watch, feel, think and share. Someone somewhere needs to read this.

The force has been strong in my friend Magrat today but unfortunately, the force has been weak in this house this weekend … that’s waffling, the force has been extremely weak in ME
… but I have spent several hours both yesterday and today with my parents in the house … organising & motivating me … it’s so empty it doesn’t feel like home
